Career Exploration
There is a difference between a job search to find employment in the present, and the research to choose a career for the long term. Bellevue University has several resources available for students and alumni who are interested in learning about the education, training and skills that match their goals and interests. Some of the services available include:
FOCUS
FOCUS is a Web-based career and educational planning system that can help you make career decisions, choose an academic major, and map out your career and/or educational plans. If you are selecting a major, looking for career options related to your major, or are seeking a career change, you will benefit from using this system.
Career Insider
The online career library powered by Career Insider offers extensive resources including guides, videos, company information, industry research, career advice and message boards. This comprehensive resource is available on the BRUIN log-in page, for Bellevue University students and alumni.
What can I do with a major in?
It is helpful to look at some examples of occupations/job titles that are typically associated with the various academic majors offered at Bellevue University. Use these lists to get ideas, then do research to discover which ones seem to fit with your interests, values and skills/qualifications. For more information, the Occupational Outlook Handbook provided by the United States Department of Labor is available for background information on specific fields. The http://online.onetcenter.org/ is another resource available as well.
